I have been taking lessons from Maya for almost 9 years and I would 10/10 recommend her for anyone who wants to learn piano in an interesting, creative, and motivational environment. Along with being a wonderful and inspirational person and musican, Maya is an extremely talented teacher. Her teaching methods encourage students to truly want to practice and learn through fostering an interest and passion for music and piano. Maya first of all is a beautiful human being and a joy to be around. I speak to her piano teaching in 2 capacities. The first, I started lessons with Maya in my late '70's after being away from it for 60 years. She is instructive, encouraging, supportive, and has returned the joy of playing piano to my life, a godsend during Covid. The second -- she is gifted in teaching kids. When my twin sports-crazy grandsons from MN came to visit for 6 days, age 12, we asked if they'd like a lesson with Maya. Surprisingly they did. They loved it so much they asked for another for two 2-hour lessons. The next year they asked for 6 hours. For a piano teacher to inspire and be adored by both old and young -- that is someone very special. I would recommend her to everyone.

I recently decided that I wanted to start playing the piano. I’m 31 and have no experience reading music or playing an instrument (other than a short-lived attempt at playing the trumpet in 5th grade). Maya was recommended to me by a friend and has been the best teacher I could imagine working with.
Maya has created a judgement free learning environment, answering all of my questions and adapting our lessons to fit my beginner needs. She tunes her teaching style to fit my preferred way of learning and is interested in suggesting songs that fit my mood and interest of the week. She is a very talented musician and I learn a ton by just watching her play. I would definitely recommend working with Maya, whether you’re a novice like me or have been playing for a long time. I’m looking forward to learning with Maya as I continue to become a better piano player.
